Steps 1-4

Blue Loctite (McMaster P/N 1004A12) is recommended on all bolts that thread into a tapped hole.

Step 1

The 6mm ID bearings are installed from the top side of the Bottom Plate. They should be a light press fit and may be pressed in by hand or with an arbor press. The bearing should sit flush with the top side of the plate.

The bearings can be a loose fit into the plate, enough that they would fall out when the plate was turned upside-down. This is not an issue for the functionality of the plate, but if this is the case you may want to take a small piece of tape across one side of the bearing and plate face to help keep the bearings in place during later assembly steps.

The Right-Hand bottom plate was used for reference but assembly instructions are interchangeable between the Right-Hand and Left-Hand versions; the same hand for the bottom and top plate must be used for the module to assemble properly.

Step 2

The 3” ID X-Contact Bearing will be installed from the bottom side of the Swerve X2S Bottom Plate. It is a tight slip fit and can be installed by hand or with an arbor press, if necessary. The bearing should sit flush with the bottom side of the plate.

The bearing will fit into the plate best if it is kept straight as it is installed. If put in too crooked, the bearing can become wedged in the counterbore without being fully seated, and it is then recommended to remove the bearing and try again, rather then forcing the bearing into place.

Once the bearing is fully seated, use the six #10-32 x 3/8”L bolts to retain it. The bolts should be tightened until flush with the bottom side of the Bottom Plate. The image below indicates the location of the bolts in green.

Step 3

Press in the 6mm ID bearings into the Top Plate. These bearings are a light press fit and may be pressed in by hand or with an arbor press. The bearing should sit flush with the bottom side of the plate.

Step 4

Install the bearings as shown below. The 8mm ID bearing should be pressed in from the top of the 74T Rotation Gear. The 12mm ID bearing should be pressed in from the bottom of the 74T Rotation Gear. Both bearings should be a light press fit and may be pressed in by hand or with an arbor press.
