Blue Loctite (McMaster P/N 1004A12) is recommended on all bolts that thread into a tapped hole.
The 1-1/8" OD Aluminum VersaRoller Tube must be cut to the correct length before assembling. This length is determined by the distance between the two GreyT Telescopes you are connecting.
For this type of telescope set up, it is recommended that you cut the tube to be .375" shorter than the desired distance between the two Telescope Gearbox Plates. This will leave more than enough room for the flange of the VersaRoller and a 1-1/16" Acetal Spacer, while also leaving extra room for error when cutting the tube. Pictured below are some example dimensions.
The #10-32 x 1/4"L bolts will thread through the VersaRoller Tube and into the tapped holes of the 1/2" Hex Bore x 1-1/8" OD VersaRoller Hubs.
The scores on the VersaRoller Tube will allow you to easily clock the hexes on the VersaRoller Hub. From there, in order to ensure the GreyT Telescopes extend at the same rate, the string must be tied at the same length.
Slide the connecting drum and 1/16" Acetal Spacer on to the output shaft of a previously mounted GreyT Telescope. The spacer will ensure that the 1/2" Hex Bore x 1-1/8" OD VersaRoller Hub does not rub against the flange of the bearing, creating unnecessary friction in the system.
Slide the mirrored telescope and 1-1/6" Acetal Spacer on to the connecting tube.
Make sure the two telescopes are in the same position when doing this step. Otherwise, they will not be clocked properly.
Once the second telescope is in place, bolt it to the tubes using four #10-32 x 1-1/2"L bolts.
