Q: If used in the drivetrain, what wheel size should I use?

A: Any 4" wheel will work. Going any larger than 4" will run the risk of not having enough reduction.

Q: Can I use other motors besides the Kraken X60?

A: Yes, any motor with a 2" bolt circle is compatible. This includes CIMs, Mini CIMs, and NEOs.

These are some tips and tricks to keep the product running without a hitch. Failure to do maintenance may result in issues.

First Time Assembly

1. Loctite all bolts

2. Grease all gears

   1. We recommend a dry grease or white lithium for all hex bore gears

3. All bolts are tight and there are no gaps in the assembly

4. Gears mesh correctly and everything spins smoothly

General Maintenance

1. Check for excessive wear on gears

2. Reapply grease

3. Verify everything still spins smoothly

Yearly Maintenance

1. Disassemble gearbox

2. Replace all gears, if aluminum gears were used

3. Clean all components

4. Inspect all components for wear and damage

5. Reassemble with new bolts with Loctite and grease all gears

Tools Required For Assembly

These tools are required for the assembly of the WCP Single Stage Gearbox.

• Snap Ring Pliers (For 1/2" snap rings)

• Allen Keys

  • 1/8"

The gearbox should be assembled before installation, unless there is a space issue during installation that would prevent this.

Single Stage Gearbox (WCP-0557)

Optional Parts to Buy

Step 1

Use the 1-1/8" Bearing Adapter to install the 1/2" ID x 1-1/8" OD Flanged Bearing into the Motor Plate.

Step 2

Use the 1-1/8" Bearing Adapter to install the 1/2" Rounded Hex ID x 1-1/8" OD Flanged Bearing into the Front Plate.

Step 3

Install the WCP Output Shaft, 1/2" Acetal Spacer, and Driven Gear in the way shown below.

Step 4

Bolt the two halves of the Gearbox together using the #10-32 x 1-1/2"L bolts and 1-1/8"L spacers.

Step 5

The Kraken X60 Motor is installed using two #10-32 x 1/2"L bolts.

Repeat this step for both motors.

Limitations

Listed in the table below are the recommended gear ratios when using the WCP Single Stage Gearbox to power the GreyT Elevator (Cascade). It is not recommended to lift more than 45 lbs without additional gear reduction.

Collisions

The center to center distance for the gearbox is 1.803", which is a 72T distance. This means that any gear set that adds up to 72T will fit. The only limit to this is the center gear, which cannot be any larger than 62T, otherwise it will collide with the 1-1/8" Spacers.

Just by going one size larger to a 64T Gear will cause the gear to collide with the spacers.

The WCP Single Stage Gearbox is a simple and versatile gearbox designed to be used in many different ways. Useful for arms, elevators, and 4" wheel drivetrains, this gearbox can be used in any light to medium load application.
