This 3 stage gearbox is designed to assist teams in creating rotational arm joints. Making this gearbox is perfect for arms or turrets and many other situations where an axis needs to rotate.

Friction Brake Integration
CAM Tensioning
Press both bearings into the motor plate. This should be a light press it. The bearing flanges should both be on the same side.
Install the Kraken motor with two #10-32 x 1/2”L bolts.
Install the desired pinion and 1/16” Kraken Spacer.
Slide all desired gears and shaft into place.
Press bearings into the motor plate. This should be a light press fit. The bearing flanges should be on the same side.
These are some tips and tricks to keep the product running without a hitch. Failure to do maintenance may result in issues.
First Time Assembly
Use Vibra-Tite VC-3 threadlocker on all bolts
Grease all gears
We recommend Lucas Red "N" Tacky for all gears
All bolts are tight and there are no gaps in the assembly
Gears mesh correctly and everything spins smoothly
General Maintenance
Check for excessive wear in gears
Reapply grease
Verify everything still spins smoothly
No damage to plastic encoder parts or belts
Yearly Maintenance
Disassemble gearbox
Replace any worn gears
Clean all components
Inspect all components for wear or damage
Reassemble with new bolts with Vibra-Tite VC-3 and grease all gears

Vibra-TITE VC-3 Threadmate (Vibra-TITE) is recommended on all bolts that thread into a tapped hole.
Apply Lucas Red "N" Tacky grease to all gears after final assembly to ensure smooth operation and reduce wear during use.

The brake must be assembled in place. For more detailed brake assembly steps, refer to the
Attach the two halves of the gearbox using four #10-32 x 1.75”L bolts and four 1.125”L spacers.
Attached desired output sprocket and retain with 1/2” Snap Ring.
Use two #10-32 x 1/2”L bolts to attach the Mag Encoder mount.
DO NOT over tighten bolts and crush 3D printed mount.
The gearbox spacer is required for the proper spacing to mount to a 1”x2” tube. Align the spacer plate with the gearbox plate and use the mounting holes.
Apply Lucas Red "N" Tacky grease to all gears after final assembly to ensure smooth operation and reduce wear during use. Once greased, rotate and spin the wheel to distribute the grease evenly before powering up.
After running gearbox for 15-30 minutes, reapply a light amount of grease. Reapply as needed.
