Slide the carriage assembly into the 1st stage assembly from the front. It may help with installation to lift the carriage up from the bottom and angle it forward a bit. Slide the carriage down and return it to a vertical position.
Once in, the front/back bearings in the carriage and the 1st stage should both be on the same side.
Bolt the 3/4" OD Radial Bearings into the Bearing Blocks on the backside of the carriage as indicated in green.
At this point, the elevator carriage should be able to move smoothly up/down, and a small amount of wiggle left/right and front/back is to be expected. This ensures the elevator will not bind.
Assemble the Elevator Mast Vertical Tube with an aluminum tube plug and appropriate plastic tube plug sleeve. The tube plug can be installed using #10-32 x 3/8”L bolts.
Repeat this step for both Elevator Mast Vertical Tubes.
Bolt the assembled vertical tubes for the mast to the Elevator Base Tube. The bottom face of the tube should be drilled to 3/8”, providing adequate clearance so the #10-32 x 3/8”L bolts can be installed inside the tube.
Attach the Elevator Mast Cross Tube to the Elevator Mast Vertical Tubes using four #10-32 bolts and 2” long spacers. While the tube can be lower, it is recommended to mount it as high as possible to increase the strength of the elevator mast.
Drill the holes marked in green on one of the Centered Bearing Plates to be clearance for #10-32. Once that is done, press the 1/2" Rounded Hex Bearings into both plates. Install both plates as shown in the image below using two #10-32 x 1-1/2"L bolts.
This is the last section required for the GreyT Elevator Single Stage assembly.
For this step, all stages will have to be lifted out of the way in order to complete. Once you have access to the Bottom Tube of the Elevator Mast Assembly, bolt the Gearbox Angle Bracket to the bottom of the tube using #10-32 x 3/8"L bolts. The top face of the tube should be drilled to 3/8” so the #10-32 x 3/8”L bolts can be installed easily inside the tube.
The Gearbox Angle Bracket is not included in the GreyT Elevator Kits. It is cut from 1" x 1" x 0.090" Aluminum Angle.
All holes on the Gearbox Angle Bracket will need to be drilled clearance for #10-32 before moving on to the next step.
Drill the holes marked in green on the Centered Bearing Plates to be clearance for #10-32. Once that is done, press the 1/2" Rounded Hex Bearing into the plate. Install the Single Stage Gearbox and Centered Bearing Plate in the way shown in the image below.
Slide the 22T Sprockets, 1/2" Hex Acetal Spacers, and Clamping Shaft Collars onto the shafts.
Install the #25H chain and tensioner. The Spartan #25 Chain tensioner (WCP-0051) and the #25 Chain Turnbuckle (WCP-0247) are compatible with this setup. When running the chain. Make sure it runs between the two Chain Attachment Brackets.
The chain tensioner can go in one of the two spots indicated in the image below in green circles.
After the tensioner has been added, bolt through the #25H Chain and Chain Attachment Brackets using #4-40 bolts and nuts. Two additional 1/8" roll pins may be added as well. This will help reduce the load on the #4-40 bolts.
Assemble the Carriage Horizontal Tube with aluminum tube plugs and appropriate plastic tube plug sleeves. The tube plugs can be installed using #10-32 x 3/8"L bolts.
Repeat this step for both Carriage Horizontal Tubes.
Bolt the Carriage Vertical Tubes to the assembled Carriage Horizontal Tubes using the #10-32 x 1 1/2"L bolts When assembled, the #10-32 x 1 1/2"L bolts will sit inside the Elevator Clamping Block.
Make sure to install the Bearing Blocks with only one of the 3/4" OD Radial Bearings. This will allow for an easy installation process.
Mount both Chain Attachment Brackets to the bottom Carriage Horizontal Tube in the orientation shown below. The brackets will be installed using six #10-32 x 2-1/2"L bolts and #10-32 nuts.
For the purpose of this manual, all tubes were cut to dimensions used in the CAD model. However, the tubes can be cut to any length desired. See the section for more information.
